Business Is A Tough Gig. How Many Plans Do You Need In Your Life?
How many plans do you need in your life?
That depends on what you want to achieve.
I’m a great believer in:-
Control your thoughts. And you control your future.
And in:-
Write it down. And make it happen.
When you control your thoughts. And focus your thoughts on what you want to achieve.
You then have to have a plan as to how you’re going to achieve it.
I have many plans written down.
I have written plans for my garden. And what I plan to do in my garden every weekend.
I have many written plans for my business. Broken down into target markets. And how I’m going to reach each target market.
I have written plans, called menus, for what we’re having for dinner every night. This is to relieve the stress of that last minute ‘what’s for dinner’ that so many us who work every day feel at 5pm.
I have my Rule of 5. The five things I’ll do every day to make things happen.
Winging it. Just doesn’t cut it.
How do I plan? I use online Mind Maps. For my business I use two. Both are paid versions. Mindjet. Which is very expensive. $500. Because it’s a download to your computer. And MindMeister. Which is cloud based. And $USD6 month.
There is also a wonderful free version. That will suit most of you. Wisemapping. I tried it out today. And it’s perfect for non business use. Or new business use.
But let me say one thing.
No plan is set in stone.
Plans change with the wind. And with a change in circumstances.
That fabulous dinner planned for tonight can go pie shaped if suddenly there’s an emergency at home. In our case. The unexpected. But not uncommon. Loss of electricity.
The emails I planned to send to a particular target market to introduce my Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover, can be undone by losing my rural wireless internet connection.
But I guarantee you one thing.
If you don’t have a plan. Written down. You won’t make it happen. Any day of the week.
Planning takes the stress out of – how am I going to get to where I want to go?
My advice. Invest your time in a Mindmap. It will change your life.
