It sounds so simple. Keep your iron clean.
But it’s amazing how many people never clean their iron.
I live and work from our remote rural property. With only tank water as our water supply.
This is supposed to be the purest of water.
But it isn’t.
Leaves and debris collect on the top of the tank. And affect the quality of the water that washes over them before the water flows into the tank.

I love spraying my freshly ironed tea towels and pillow cases with scented water.
It’s a simple formula.
A spray bottle.
Your favourite essential oil.
A cup of warm water. To release the fragrance of the essential oil.

Choosing the right iron for you is not much different to Goldilocks finding just the right bed.
And in just the same way that Goldilocks finds just the right bed in the bedroom of The Three Bears, you’ll find just the right iron for you.
Not all irons are the same.
Some are cheap. And should never be invited into your home. They’re short lived because they’re poorly wired.
And dangerous.
Just ask any of my customers who have had them explode while using them.

When you change your environment. Everything changes.
That also pertains to ironing.
Change the ambience. And you change your mood.
No matter how much. Or how little. I have to iron.
I always take a seat.
I lower the board. Which is shared between me and my much taller partner, Victor Pleshev.

We like what we iron to smell divine.
And essential oils are a wonderful way to make that happen.
But.
Please DO NOT follow advice I’ve seen to put essential oils in the water tank of your iron.
Oil is heavier than water.
And not only does it not dissolve in the water tank of your iron like you expect – or hope – it to.

Pressing cloths are wonderfully useful tools.
Put a pressing cloth over a garment. Or a quilt. Or a piece of patchwork. And it prevents you burning. Or scorching. Your best shirt and/or handiwork.
But sometimes you might not want to use a pressing cloth. Especially one as glamourous as the Best Boy Pressing Cloth.
If you’re ironing something that might be sticky. Such as fusible interfacing. Your have a better friend than a pressing cloth.

Just about everyone LOVES linen. Including me.
It’s cool in summer.
It’s so comfortable.
And looks so classy.
I have a black linen shirt that’s beyond its use by date. Showing extreme signs of age. But I hate the thought of parting with it. Because I’ve never seen another one like it.
Sometimes people avoid buying beautiful linen garments because they think it’s too hard a fabric to iron.

G'day from 'The High Country' in rural Victoria.
Thank you for visiting my website. I love that you're here.
Your participation in my rural business is a dream come true. One of the highlights of my life.
Whenever I visit a new website. I always want to know how much postage and handling is.
So upfront. Our flat rate postage and handling charge is $16.95 per parcel.
Regardless of how many items you put in your parcel. Or where you are located within Australia.
We live and work from our remote rural property in 'The High Country' of Victoria.
In the picturesque foothills of the Victorian Alps.
All parcels are despatched via Australia Post.
Our post office is in a remote location. So we post parcels once a week.
We hope you understand how the tyranny of distance affects a business that is in a remote, rural village.
We post parcels on Thursday. From orders received by 3pm on the day before. Wednesday. And send you an email to let you know your parcel is on its way.
For our international customers, please check with Customs in your country to see if they impose extra charges on your parcel once it enters your country.
For my UK customers. It's with regret that I will be unable to continue to post parcels to the UK. The new requirement from the UK is that VAT be collected by all online merchants when an order is placed. And paid to the UK before your parcel leaves Australia. As well as. Calculate the duties payable on your parcel. To be able to complete a customs declaration. Unfortunately. I'm too small a company to justify the infrastructure required to do this.
Every Thursday. From our rural alpine village. We post orders received by 3PM on Wednesday.
We then send you an email to let you know your parcel is on its way.
And we hope you love everything in your parcel. ~Carol❤️
