Many of my customers for The Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover And Other Goodies envy my rural lifestyle.
Living and working from my 54 hectare beautiful remote rural property in the picturesque Central Tablelands of NSW.
Human nature being what it is, we all want something we don’t have.
I’ve always wanted a big enclosed porch. American style.
But I think I’d have no trouble settling for this gorgeous sunroom/conservatory.
With a beautiful big table to sit it.
I have a fetish for ‘beautiful tables to sit at’.
There is nothing more luxurious than a beautifully set table. With cloth napkins.
And table linen. If that’s your fancy.
Crisply pressed on a Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover. Of course.
Add a gorgeous centrepiece.
Charming company. Even if it’s only you. Sipping a cup of tea.

When I finished university in the country of my birth, America. My first job was working at George Washington University. In Washington, DC.
I worked for the Dean of the School Of Business Administration.
It was a small office.
Dr Docherty. The Dean. And his personal secretary. Sophie Goff. Who had worked for him for more than 20 years.
I was a newcomer to the office.
In the Mad Men era.
I was assigned to working with the MBA students. Many of which were mature students. Returned officers from the war in Vietnam.
One such student was John. A Commander in the Navy.
John was an avid sailor. And sailed every opportunity on the Chesapeake Bay.
Every so often, he would invite friends to sail with him.
I accepted his first invitation.
Although I’m not a sailor. Never will be. I loved the experience.
And at the end of the day. His guests were invited back to his terrace house in historic Georgetown. In the salubrious inner city of Washington DC. Located on the Potomac River.

I’m often asked about living and working from my beautiful remote rural property. In the picturesque Central Tablelands Of NSW.
My 54 hectare property is a lot of work.
But I consider it to be my own personal gym.
After sitting at a computer all day running my beloved niche business, The Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover And Other Goodies, it’s a welcome tonic to easily be outside doing physical work.
I walk the property every morning at sunrise. With my camera. And post a photo to my social media pages, including Instagram. Of what I see. [Read more…]

I admit to having some of the most glorious conversations when taking orders by phone for The Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover.
Jean is an erudite woman of 76. And when discussing the pros and cons of today’s Trophy Wives – yes, I get to talk about everything – she confessed that when growing up, Coco Chanel was her idol.
Because.
Post World War II, women’s lives revolved around marriage and motherhood. And their identity was firmly tied to the male owner of the name that followed ‘Mrs’.
And Jean secretly admired the freedom and chutzpah of Coco Chanel.

Being well pressed and well presented is good etiquette.
And good etiquette is nothing more complicated than having consideration for others.
Many years ago when my partner, Victor Pleshev, and I were exhibiting the Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover And Other Goodies at the Bridal Fair at the Town Hall in Sydney NSW, I was dressed in my usual fashion.
Short, spiky hair perfectly cut and styled.
Soft and subtle make-up.
An art I’ve been perfecting since my first job after uni when I worked at George Washington University in the 1960’s. An era when everyone in an office environment dressed up to go to work.

I live and work from my remote 54 hectare rural property in the hill country of the Central Tablelands of NSW.
Being 970 metres high, we have four distinct changes of seasons.
It’s early autumn, and some of the deciduous trees that we planted 20 years ago in our hectare of garden are now just starting to turn colour. And put on a spectacular show.
The Northern Red Oak is a blaze of reds and oranges.
And is perfect for bringing inside my farmhouse. And teaming it with Radiata Pine branches.

One of my oldest friends in Australia. Dating back to 1970. Came to visit recently. Just in time for brunch.
The weather was warm. So brunch was on our back balcony. Which overlooks our hectare of garden. Planted out with 110 trees to provide shade. And habitat for birds. Plus thousands of fragrant shrubs for understory. And perfume. As well as over 200 fragrant roses. In bloom.
The view is spectacular.
As is the table we sit at.
When it comes to table settings, I’m a devotee of vintage style glamour. Setting my table with my eclectic collection of tableware from bygone eras.

G'day from 'The High Country' in rural Victoria.
Thank you for visiting my website. I love that you're here.
Your participation in my rural business is a dream come true. One of the highlights of my life.
Whenever I visit a new website. I always want to know how much postage and handling is.
So upfront. Our flat rate postage and handling charge is $16.95 per parcel.
Regardless of how many items you put in your parcel. Or where you are located within Australia.
We live and work from our remote rural property in 'The High Country' of Victoria.
In the picturesque foothills of the Victorian Alps.
All parcels are despatched via Australia Post.
Our post office is in a remote location. So we post parcels once a week.
We hope you understand how the tyranny of distance affects a business that is in a remote, rural village.
For our international customers, please check with Customs in your country to see if they impose extra charges on your parcel once it enters your country.
For my UK customers. It's with regret that I will be unable to continue to post parcels to the UK. The new requirement from the UK is that VAT be collected by all online merchants when an order is placed. And paid to the UK before your parcel leaves Australia. As well as. Calculate the duties payable on your parcel. To be able to complete a customs declaration. Unfortunately. I'm too small a company to justify the infrastructure required to do this.
Every Thursday. From our rural alpine village. We post orders received by 3PM on Wednesday.
We then send you an email to let you know your parcel is on its way.
And we hope you love everything in your parcel. ~Carol❤
