It sounds so simple. Keep your iron clean.
But it’s amazing how many people never clean their iron.
I live and work from our remote rural property. With only tank water as our water supply.
This is supposed to be the purest of water.
But it isn’t.
Leaves and debris collect on the top of the tank. And affect the quality of the water that washes over them before the water flows into the tank.
And like all impurities, it affects the quality of water that I use in our iron.
I have a Russell Hobbs top of the range iron. And every so often, the steam output just isn’t what it should be.
There is a simple solution.
When that happens – and this is like looking after the filter in your reverse cycle air conditioner – take your iron to your kitchen sink. Press the self cleaning button. And purge your iron of whatever impurities are inhibiting it from optimum performance.
Take it back to your ironing board.
Fill it with water.
And watch it perform like a brand new iron.
Such. A. Simple. Solution.
