Beverley rings to place an order. To replace the Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover she purchased several years ago.
She lives in a country town in NSW.
But she wants me to post the cover to Sydney.
Is this a gift? I ask?
No.
I live in Sydney 3 days a week. She says.
Why? I ask.
I don’t own. But I do manage. A bridal gown manufacturing company. And three days a week I go into Sydney to manage the operations.
Which leads to a lengthy discussion about the entire wedding industry.
And.
The fact that. A wedding today. Costs around about. $60,000.
That’s obscene. Beverley retorts.
The couple could use that money to put as a down payment on a house.
No wedding should cost that much.
And she recited several recent high profile weddings in Sydney. In which the gowns cost in excess of $100,000.
According to Beverley. No gown is worth that.
The company she works for designs gowns. To order.
And also manufactures gowns for the larger market.
And.
They are establishing themselves in the American market.
By invitation.
Where are their gowns made?
Not in Australia. Too expensive.
Not in China. They can’t get the quality.
But in the Philippines. Where the manufactured gown is exactly the same as their sample.
They have their own manufacturing facilities. Operated by them. But staffed by experienced sewers in the Philippines.
They couldn’t be happier with the consistent quality. And attention to detail. That they receive from their sewers.
The things I learn from a phone call!
And.
An added bonus.
Beverley so loves her Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover. She wouldn’t iron on any other!
