There was a time when ironing boards lasted forever.
From the time they were invented. Until the 1980’s.
That’s when the ‘make everything in China’ syndrome infected every retailer. Who forced manufacturers to close down in Australia. And export Australian jobs to the making of everything in China.
Because it was cheaper. And the retailers could make bigger profits.
And the quality of just about everything has never been as good again.
Including our ironing boards.
An ironing board made prior to 1970 was a lifetime acquisition. You only purchased one. Ever.
Many of my customers have Hills boards that are hand-me-downs. Through 3 generations.
That will never happen again.
What messages are your ironing board giving you?
Is the mesh on your board uneven?
Does it bounce up and down while you’re ironing?
Is it collapsing in the middle?
It’s telling you it’s time to replace your ironing board.
I do LOVE Brabantia ironing boards. Made in The Netherlands.
They’re stable. They’ll last a very long time. And they’re expensive.
But if you iron every day like I do. They’re worth it.
If you live in a metropolitan region. You can purchase them at Victoria’s Basement. And Peter’s of Kensington. For a fraction of what they cost in hardware stores.
Or.
You can visit Brabantia online. And see where your nearest Australian retailer is.
Quality is worth the price. Always.
