Why Is Olive Oil Such A Brilliant Remedy For Scratches On Stainless Steel?

My company. Which is me and my partner, Victor Pleshev. Designs and makes. In Australia. 8 textile products.

My busy online retail business is run from the top of my 100-acre mountain. In the remote 'High Country' of rural Victoria.

I run both my business. And my home. On the same principle as 'Mr Monk'. From the TV series Monk. Everything in its place. And perfect.

I don't aspire to have someone else come in and clean for me. I find it ultra satisfying to do it myself. To my standard. It's not a task I hate doing. And much prefer doing that to preparing the GST for the ATO. And my end of year accounts for my accountant.

But I also love shortcuts. Time savers. And tips that work.

Using olive oil to hide scratches on stainless steel appliances is a tip that works.

My small kitchen appliances are stainless steel. I use the Sunbeam Cafe series for my food processor. Stand mixer. Blender. Then there's my stainless steel wall oven. Microwave. And hotplate. Plus. I have other stainless steel kitchen gadgets. I am very much 'the gadget girl' when it comes to my kitchen. Anything that cuts corners on time, finds a home with me.

But they get scratched from the heavy use I give them. Especially because I love to cook. And bake. And me being me. I always want them to look as shiny as the day I purchased them.

I've discovered that olive oil - and I presume any other vegetable oil - when rubbed into the scratches on stainless steel, makes them not visible to the naked eye.

Plus.

An overall rubdown with olive oil after cleaning the appliance makes it almost new and shiny again.

I put this tip out in a newsletter to customers. And the feedback was amazingly positive.
