Kindness is always simmering under the surface. The world is only a bogeymen some of the time.
I love giving. More than receiving. And love those opportunities when giving is sooo easy. And the payback is a whopping big surprise of delight.
Once a week I post parcels for The Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover And Other Goodies in Bathurst NSW.
As it’s an hours drive, there’s also a 5 page shopping list that comes with us.
After a day’s shopping. And on the way home. My partner, Victor Pleshev, the architect who designed the Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover for his mother. To help her with her ironing when she was recovering from a stroke. And I. Were at Bunnings in Bathurst.

Pam has been an online customer since 2009.
She was referred to me by Holy Sheets. When she went in there asking for a good ironing board cover. Because the owner of the shop ironed on a Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover. She told her about us.
Until today, I’ve never spoken to Pam. Everything I know about her is from comments she leaves on her online order form.
Today is her 14th order.
And she rings for a special reason. She wants her parcel sent to a different address. But doesn’t want me to change her current address on my database.

I live and work from my beautiful remote rural property in the picturesque hills of the Central Tablelands of NSW.
I’m 970 metres high.
And every morning at sunrise, I walk the property with my camera slung around my neck.
And post photos of what I see.
This morning it was Minus 1C. And a beautiful sunshiny morning.
After days of doom and gloom followed by much needed rain.

I’m often asked about living and working from my beautiful remote rural property. In the picturesque Central Tablelands Of NSW.
My 54 hectare property is a lot of work.
But I consider it to be my own personal gym.
After sitting at a computer all day running my beloved niche business, The Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover And Other Goodies, it’s a welcome tonic to easily be outside doing physical work.
I walk the property every morning at sunrise. With my camera. And post a photo to my social media pages, including Instagram. Of what I see. [Read more…]

I had two different phone calls today.
From two women with totally opposite attitudes to life.
One is a friend.
Of long standing.
Who, in normal parlance, could be considered to have it all.
A successful business she started from scratch.
A loving husband of 34 years. Who is very patient. And tolerant.
Three lovely children. Who have essentially been nurtured by their father.

I was asked the other day, by an Australian author of international best selling business books, what made me decide that I could make a successful business out of designing and making ironing board covers.
I couldn’t stop laughing.
Because.
Never. Ever. In a million years. Would I have chosen ironing board covers as my life’s work!

This year, Anzac Day falls on a Monday. Which means that Australia has a long weekend.
It’s a busy weekend for The Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover And Other Goodies. Men and women shop. And shop. For Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Covers. Log Luggers. Roadworks Aprons. Travel Bug Shoe Bags. And Mr Chin’s Laundry Bags.
It takes me all day Tuesday. And all day Wednesday. And Wednesday evening. To get all the orders processed and ready for packing for delivery to Australia Post in Bathurst on Thursday. Bathurst being my nearest regional centre. And biggest post office.
Victor Pleshev, my partner, and the architect who designed the Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover for his mother, to help her with her ironing when she was recovering from a stroke, always packs the parcels first thing in the morning.

Being well pressed and well presented is good etiquette.
And good etiquette is nothing more complicated than having consideration for others.
Many years ago when my partner, Victor Pleshev, and I were exhibiting the Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover And Other Goodies at the Bridal Fair at the Town Hall in Sydney NSW, I was dressed in my usual fashion.
Short, spiky hair perfectly cut and styled.
Soft and subtle make-up.
An art I’ve been perfecting since my first job after uni when I worked at George Washington University in the 1960’s. An era when everyone in an office environment dressed up to go to work.

I live and work from my remote 54 hectare rural property in the hill country of the Central Tablelands of NSW.
Being 970 metres high, we have four distinct changes of seasons.
It’s early autumn, and some of the deciduous trees that we planted 20 years ago in our hectare of garden are now just starting to turn colour. And put on a spectacular show.
The Northern Red Oak is a blaze of reds and oranges.
And is perfect for bringing inside my farmhouse. And teaming it with Radiata Pine branches.

I’m an early morning gal. Always have been. Even as a young child.
In summertime, after we left New York City for small town life in southern Virginia – and before daylight saving was a twinkle in anyone’s eye – I was up and on my bike at 5AM. Riding to the nearest cornfield.
To settle down amongst the cornstalks.
To not only watch the sun rise. But to breathe in the aromatic fragrance of corn ripening in the fields.
As a New York City bred young girl, this was a heady experience for me. Which I never missed when the sun was shining.

G'day from 'The High Country' in rural Victoria.
Thank you for visiting my website. I love that you're here.
Your participation in my rural business is a dream come true. One of the highlights of my life.
Whenever I visit a new website. I always want to know how much postage and handling is.
So upfront. Our flat rate postage and handling charge is $16.95 per parcel.
Regardless of how many items you put in your parcel. Or where you are located within Australia.
We live and work from our remote rural property in 'The High Country' of Victoria.
In the picturesque foothills of the Victorian Alps.
All parcels are despatched via Australia Post.
Our post office is in a remote location. So we post parcels once a week.
We hope you understand how the tyranny of distance affects a business that is in a remote, rural village.
For our international customers, please check with Customs in your country to see if they impose extra charges on your parcel once it enters your country.
For my UK customers. It's with regret that I will be unable to continue to post parcels to the UK. The new requirement from the UK is that VAT be collected by all online merchants when an order is placed. And paid to the UK before your parcel leaves Australia. As well as. Calculate the duties payable on your parcel. To be able to complete a customs declaration. Unfortunately. I'm too small a company to justify the infrastructure required to do this.
Every Thursday. From our rural alpine village. We post orders received by 3PM on Wednesday.
We then send you an email to let you know your parcel is on its way.
And we hope you love everything in your parcel. ~Carol❤
