Everyone uses a steam iron today. Which killed the dry iron. But you can set your iron to no steam. And turn it into a dry iron.
What should you look for when purchasing a new steam iron?
Quality. Quality. Quality.
We can all buy cheap irons. But let me tell you want happens with a cheap iron. Fuses blow. It overheats. It explodes in your hand. It can start fires. They are simply dangerous.
A customer who is in charge of rental properties for a real estate company says cheap irons are the leading cause of fires. And they now have a caveat on all rentals. If the iron is the cause of the fire, the tenant is responsible for the damage.
After quality, look for these attributes.
A good steam iron will NOT leak once it reaches the right temperature for steam. All irons will leak if you try to iron before the correct temperature is reached.
It will NOT overheat. Scorching your garments.
It WILL give you years of service.
Last. But not unimportant. How does the iron feel in your hand? Is is too heavy? Does the handle fit your hand like a glove?

Steam station irons. My customers wax lyrical about ALL of them.

The only negative comments I’ve received about irons are about Sunbeam’s Accura iron. I’ve also returned 3 Sunbeam Accura irons in a row for leaking from every orifice. Which is a pity, because I have several Sunbeam appliances which I love.
