I run my worldwide business, The Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover And Other Goodies, from my remote rural property in the picturesque Central Tablelands Of NSW.
My modest farmhouse. Owner built by a Swiss National on a shoestring. Is 34 years old.
And has wardrobes the size of postage stamps.
If I was to iron my clothes for the week all at once. And put them in my wardrobe. I’d be ironing them again on the day I want to wear them. Because they would be wrinkled. And not wearable.
So I don’t iron anything until the day I want to wear it.
Shirts are hung on hangers to dry in the shade. And put away as they are.
Jeans are folded when dry. And put on a shelf.
Not everyone has wardrobes as small as mine.
But many of you might have wardrobes that are cluttered. With garments that haven’t been worn in some time.
So the effect of putting away crisply ironed garments. In a cluttered closet. Is exactly the same effect as putting them in my postage stamp size wardrobe.
It’s time to declutter.
Being that I am The Queen Of Clutter. A collector of ALL things since childhood.
These are strong words coming from me.
I also am time poor when it comes to clearing out. Although my house is always neat. I rarely devote the time to cleaning out cupboards. Closets. Drawers.
Because I’d rather spend my time on my business.
But there comes a time when the job just has to be done.
I’ve just decluttered my wardrobe. And the closet that holds my sweaters. And jeans.
Look. The truth is. If you haven’t worn something in three years. And it’s not something of sentimental value. Out it should go.
I know. If you’re like me, it takes willpower. But if I can do it. So can you.
I found garments from 25 years ago. Tucked away so far in the back of my closets. I was surprised to discover them.
Not only are they out of fashion. They’re not something I would wear today.
Six black plastic garbage bags. Completely full of unwanted garments. Have been dropped off at St Vincent de Paul.
I now have so much room, I think I’m in the wrong house.
Once you have a good clearing out, you’ll find that if you’re the type who likes to iron your garments once a week, you’ll not have to iron them again on the day you want to wear them.
And. Of course. You do iron them on a Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover! Don’t you!
