Just about everyone LOVES linen. Including me.
It’s cool in summer.
It’s so comfortable.
And looks so classy.
I have a black linen shirt that’s beyond its use by date. Showing extreme signs of age. But I hate the thought of parting with it. Because I’ve never seen another one like it.
Sometimes people avoid buying beautiful linen garments because they think it’s too hard a fabric to iron.
Are you in that category?
Do you struggle to iron all the wrinkles out of your best loved linen shirt?
Struggle no more. Below is a foolproof recipe for ironing ALL the wrinkles out of your linen garments.
Dampen your linen shirt.
Roll it up tightly.
Put it in a pillowcase or towel.
Put it in the fridge overnight.
Take it out the next morning.
Iron it like butter.
Allow an hour for it to air dry.
Wear with panache.
How simple is that!
This recipe was given to me many years ago by Fay Boyd, a devoted wearer of linen garments, when she purchased her first Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover.
Fay is one of the original founders of the Grafton ArtsFest. The biggest money spinner in the town of Grafton NSW.
In the 1970’s, when Fay was a young mother, she and a group of friends were very heavily into arts and crafts. One year they decided to rent a hall to show off their hand made treasures.
It was a resounding success. So they did it again the next year. And the next.
Each year building on the past and expanding for the future.
Until Grafton ArtsFest became a cultural event and a destination for artists and artisans of all persuasions who want to learn more.
A pebble turns into a mountain.
