In February 1994, when we launched the Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover.
Which was designed by my partner, Victor Pleshev, the architect who designed the Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover for his mother. To help her with her ironing when she was recovering from a stroke.
Ironing boards came in just a few sizes.
That could easily be accommodated by the Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover.
There was a standard size Fitz Like A Glove™ Cover. Which fit 99% of most ironing boards.
And an extra large size. Which we made to fit those boards in rural Australia which were sold to rural families. Door to door. Many, many years ago.
They were really giant economy size.
It was a size we often came in contact with when we exhibited at rural field days.
Today. That’s all changed.
Ironing boards come in handkerchief sizes. To fit into drawers in kitchens.
To super sizes. Of various dimensions. To fit in laundry rooms that really no longer exist.
Most laundry rooms today are an after thought.
As a customer told me recently. Her son fixes washing machines. And today’s laundry rooms. In modern homes. Are so small. He can’t pull the washing machine out in the laundry room to fix it. And has no idea how it was installed in the first place.
But accommodate these extreme sizes we do.
It’s a rare occasion when a Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover doesn’t fit someone’s board.
