In October of 2018, my partner, Victor Pleshev, and I, make the heart wrenching decision to sell our beloved rural property of 27 years. And start a new adventure in our life.
We have two reasons to abandon the picturesque Central Tablelands of NSW.
Climate change.
When we escaped the city lights for a rural life in 1992, a hot day at Ilford NSW was 38C. In 2018. It was a breathtaking. And suffocatingly hot. 45C. On our back balcony. And has been that hot for several summers.
As well. Victor. An architect. Has always wanted to live in a house he designs for us.
I have been living my rural dream for 27 years. It’s now time for Victor to live his.
We have no destination in mind.
Only three criteria.
It has to be cooler.
Wetter.
With spectacular views.
After much deliberation, we settle on Swifts Creek. In ‘The High Country’ of Victoria. At the foothills of the Victorian Alps.
We purchase 40 hectares (100 acres) of an unloved rural property.
A mountain. Actually.
A. Very. Steep. Mountain.
But for Victor and me. Who are ambitious enough to climb all the way to the top when inspecting this forlorn piece of rocky terrain. We are rewarded with truly sensational views.
With 27 years of experience in transforming a 54 hectare (135 acre) over cleared. And over grazed sheep property. Into a rural showpiece.
We know we will transform this property into something very special. And show this land of ours what happens when copious quantities of TLC is sprinkled over it.
This is our journey along the road of our new adventure.
And I hope you’ll travel it with me.
This video is the first of many.
And showcases the views from the top of the mountain.
I hope you enjoy it.
If you do. Please let me know by sending me an email below.
I’d love to hear from you.
