Running my worldwide business, The Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover And Other Goodies, from my remote rural property means I spend more time at my desk. And computer. Then I spend outdoors.
And I do like to bring the outdoors. Indoors.
Living on 54 hectares. And cultivating a hectare of garden. I don’t lack for greenery to bring indoors.
Especially in winter.
When indoor greenery dresses up. And brightens. My farmhouse. In what can be grey and gloomy days in my hills. 970M up above sea level.
My favourite greenery is the grey green, petal shaped leaves of the Euphorbia Characias perennial plant. Of which I have many. As they are prolific self seeders.
The stems also have a poisonous milky white sap. Which leaks out into the vase water. And leaves a hard to clean residue.
I’m averse to using chemicals to clean with.
Just because.
So my favourite cleaning trio is . . .
. . . Cleaning vinegar.
. . . Cleaning Bicarb.
. . . And. . . Borax.
When it comes to dissolving the stains left in a glass vase from sticky milky white sap, Borax is a champ.
One tablespoon of Borax. Warm water to fill the vase to the top. A swirl around with the bottle brush to dissolve it. A soaking overnight.
And that hexagonal, green Spanish glass vase is sparkling the next day.
The hardest part?
Lifting the water filled vase to empty it. It IS one heavy dude! Which is very slippery when wet!!
Next time you have a tricky cleaning problem, give Borax a try.
Available at Bunnings. And all good hardware stores.
